Istrian Seaside Break

It was the end of September in Istria, in the village of Bale. In the hotel named La Grisa with the best restaurant in Istria (2013.) with the same name. The food was divine.
If you ever come to Istria go and visit this small village where you can hear the silence.

The hotel is made of 6 or 7 neighboring houses with 2 entrances and restaurant terrace/foyer in the middle.
Each room is furnished and decorated differently, in a modern way, but with a touch of the original old house. I really liked staying there.

Entrance II (our) with the original well
Passage between houses/restaurant terrace behind the wall. Local's were passing by and wished us Buon appetito! a good appetite in domestic Italian dialect :) Yes they are Croatians but with Italian heritage. Istrians speaks two languages. And right in the village of Bale people speak old Italian Latin dialect.

Vacation

Now and then people should turn back to everyday life and leave. Purify the mind. Breathe a different air. Rockabilly Tear it up festival was our excuse to make off to Istra / Istria...the largest peninsula in the Adriatic sea. We stayed in Medulin, tourist resort located at the lower tip of Istria... the venue of the festival and starting point for our excursions. We went to see Rijeka, Pula, Rovinj and Motovun. These are larger and better known towns, but everywhere you go you'll be thrilled.

Old Roman Arena in Pula....and huge jumbo pizza at Jupiter pizzeria for lunch

Colorful and tiny streets of the beautiful town of Rovinj

The town of Motovun ....best known for its surrounding woods where truffles grow.
