50's Replica Suit

One day, seeing photos on Flickr I came across scanned newspaper clipping on the Millie Motts photostream. Clipping was from the 1957 Mademoiselle magazine and on the photo is a beautiful vintage 50's suit by Sidran of Dallas in which I immediately fell in love and decided that one day it would be mine.

Here it is !! / Evo ga!!

Since the skirt is not visible in the original photo I sewed it with a ruffle.
Suknja se ne vidi na originalnoj slici tako da sam je napravila po svojoj želji.

I finally got the original  scanned newspaper clipping. Thank you Regina.
Konačno sam dobila original novinskog izreska s kostimom.

Black Velvet Dress

This is custom dress made for Ivana aka Greta MaCabre. She wore that dress to the Cabaret New Burlesque show this Saturday.
I must say last week was very stressful because of that dress. Longer than a week we have negotiated about fabric. I went through all the shops in the area and eventually bought that first suggested....velvet. At the end, I had only three days to make a dress.
I told her to secure a second outfit, just in case if the dress does not suit (velvet was not stretchy and the dress should be tight). Luckily, the dress was perfect. Ah, how good I am! :)

Cuffs and waistband with big bow  are made of Shantung fabric.
It's a pity that there's no photo where we see more of the dress but it may appear something these days.

update 27.07.2012.

Violet Cocktail Dress

This dress is made of crash taffeta. Pattern for the bodice is taken from Burda Style Magazine 6/2006 style 123. size 42. But like many times before, cut just does not match the image. Neckline is too wide, it descends to half shoulder but it is fortunate that the girl has a lush neckline so that it does not slip further down. She likes it.

I also made a overskirt for the dress

Cap Sleve Dress

The dress is made of warm wool blend in one of my favorite dress pattern. This is the third dress I sewed in that same pattern and I love it.

This is the 5th dress with the same pattern. This time in red.

This shirt is made of Cotton is wonderfully smooth, soft, durable and easy to care fabric.
I know that Cotton Sateen is normally used for bed sheets, but I think it is also perfect for warm winter shirts.
I wear this shirt in combination with 40's style denim pants

Green Gingham Wrap Dress

This is my fourth so far, wrap dress...third made for Tina.
So, she wanted a little bit different wrap dress then other two. Since the dress is toxic green, it should be alleviated with white accents...collar, trimmings on the pockets and sleeves and binding.

Sailor Dress

Can't believe I forget to blog this fabulous dress I've made last summer. Dress was made of blue cotton, detachable collar is white with blue satin ribbon. In the middle front there is red buttons and red bow on a pin. Zipper is on the side.
Somehow I had to separate collar from the rest of the dress .. there was a risk of dye the white collar to blue.I used buttons and buttonholes. You can wear dress without looks like this Swing dress.
